I don’t know about you guys, but when the 5PM munchies hit, I’m all for a salty snack.
There are a ton of healthy alternatives out there (think nori snacks, lentil chips, almond flour crackers…) but in an effort to make things zero-waste and to save yourself a (CO2 heavy) online order, head to your pantry.
You’ll need:
- 1 can of chickpeas (favour organic produce if possible)
- Some olive oil, sesame or sunflower oil (depending on your mood)
- Spices to your liking (in this case, garlic powder, paprika and chili flakes)
- Salt + Pepper
How to make them:
- Rince your chickpeas under cold water and lay them out on a clean dishtowel. Let them dry for 1h or until really dry.
- Preheat your oven at 175°C.
- If you have time, and to ensure extra crunch, gently pull the skins off the chickpeas.
- Put the chickpeas in a bowl. Add 2 tablespoons of oil, salt + pepper and spices to liking. Toss around until chickpeas are coated.
- Lay the chickpeas on a baking sheet (set them in a single layer) and put them into the oven. Bake for 35-45 min.
- Let them cool down completely and store in a container for a healthy snack at any time!
Good spice combinations:
- Garlic powder, paprika, chili flakes and salt.
- Himalayan salt (to keep it simple).
- Cracked black pepper, sea salt and lime juice.
- Yellow curry powder, salt and hot chili flakes.
- Cumin, salt and paprika.
- Sesame oil, soy sauce and sesame seeds.
- And whatever inspires you!
